Greece’s Foreign Ministry has urged Greek nationals who are in Ukraine to leave the country and is discouraging all travel to the country.

This comes comes after the USA warned that the Russian invasion could begin “any day” and urged its citizens to leave Ukraine within the next 48 hours.

“An invasion could start with aerial bombing that would make departures difficult and endanger civilians,” the White House said on Friday.

A host of other countries have also urged their nationals to leave Ukraine, among them Australia, UK, Jordan, Japan, Norway, Germany and Russia.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly discourages all travel in any part of Ukraine’s territory, and at the same time advises Greek citizens currently in Ukraine to leave the country immediately.

“Greek citizens who have not already left the country, are also advised to immediately register their contact details with the Greek Embassy in Kyiv”, the Ministry said in a statement
