A wreath laying to to make Greek Independence Day was held by the Hellenic sub-branch of the Returned Services League (RSL) of Australia on Friday, 25 March.
The event began with a church service at St Eustathios in South Melbourne in the morning before it moved to the Australian Hellenic Memorial in Domain Gardens.
The ceremony that at the Australian Hellenic Memorial was attended by members of the the Consul General for Melbourne Emmanuel Karvelakis, Maria Vamvakinou MP, members of the Greek-Australian community in Melbourne, the Greek Orthodox church, members of the RSL and teachers and students from a number of schools in the city.
After the ceremony, the Hellenic RSL branch invited everyone to its hall in South Melbourne for light refreshments.
