Jim Grivas (Grivokostopoulos) will be running as the Liberal candidate for Melbourne’s ‘Greekest’ suburb, Oakleigh ahead of Victoria’s state election in November.
The suburb of Oakleigh is one of the most-multicultural suburbs in Melbourne, with the Greek presence being prominent in every aspect of life as many cafes, restaurants, clubs, retail stores, gyms, GP clinics and schools are owned and attended by Greeks, especially in the area surrounding Eaton Mall.
Taking to social media, Mr Grivas who has previously served as a Councillor at Manningham City Council in October 2012 before becoming the first Mayor of Greek heritage in the City for 2013-2014, expressed his gratitude and excitement by the endorsement.
“I am humbled and honoured to be recently endorsed as the Liberal Candidate for Oakleigh,” Mr Grivas wrote on Facebook.
“In a time where our current State Government has not allowed the residents of Oakleigh to have their voice and not be represented as they should, I will provide that voice for all residents in Oakleigh.
RECOVER. REBUILD,” Mr Grivas wrote.
