Greece’s foreign minister Nikos Dendias is expected to visit Australia in the coming months although a date is yet to be finalised.

Mr Dendias announced that the planned visit at the University of Athens where he spoke on the theme Greece in the Whirlwind of International Developments.

The visit is expected to take place in August or September.

He had also hinted about a likely visit to Australia as the guest speaker of The Hellenic Initiative Australia’s Digital Conversation talk that he delivered on 7 July.

Mr Dendias said that while Greece was a bridge between Europe, the Arab world and Africa it was also looking to project itself into the Asia-Pacific region where Australia is playing a key role.

During his visit, Mr Dendias will meet with members of the Australian government will also hold meetings with the members of the Greek diaspora who are able to vote in the forthcoming Greek election whose date is yet to be announced.
