The 17-year old footballer John Fotopoulos has made his mark in his his first full game debut in the National Premier League One (NPL1) NSW First Grade Sutherland Sharks team against Northbridge Bulls at Seymour Shaw Park on Saturday contributing to a 2-2 draw over the weekend.
Head Coach, Steve Gordon added him to the matchday squad in the last two games with his official full game starting debut arriving against the Northbridge Bulls.
Fotopoulos had been elevated from the 18s to 20s squads and now is training with the First Grade team.
The young footballer, played a full match in this NPL1 fixture, for Sutherland Sharks FC against Northbridge Bulls at Seymour Shaw Park, putting in a solid performance in the left back position.
The last three years have been amazing as a Sutherland Sharks player, who have help shape his pathway to First Grade since joining the Sharks in 2019 as a 15 year old.
During 2019, Fotopoulos, the former Earlwood Wanderers football junior helped his Endeavour Sports High School and Sutherland Sharks FC National Premier League Youth U15 Team reach two Grand Finals in the space of 2 weeks.
“Playing first grade has been a challenge I have worked on every day to achieve” said the promising young footballer, “I am grateful for the opportunity that has been made possible by all the Coaching staff from Youth to now, without their support and encouragement this would not have been possible.”
In the end, after trailing the match 2-0 at half time from a competitive standpoint, Sutherland Sharks got back into the game to draw 2-2.
