A fundraiser held for the grieving family of Athanasia Mazarakidou, held this week in Melbourne, raised $10,000. The family, who are new migrants from Greece, lost Athanasia a day before Easter. She was only 34, and leaves behind her young daughters Kalliope and Theodora. Since her tragic passing, the Greek community have banded together to help support the young family in need.
The fundraiser, organised by Philhellene restaurateur’s John and Susie Rerakis, was held at St Dimitrios church hall due to overwhelming support from the community.
