Next week the Greek government will present an ambitious plan with 30 projects to be implemented in Thessaloniki by 2030.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, said the plan will cost several billion euros and will include projects that “Thessaloniki has never seen before”.
Speaking at the Ministry of Macedonia – Thrace in Thessaloniki following talks with key industry bodies in northern Greece in light of the 86th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), the plan includes investments in infrastructure, health and welfare, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Mitsotakis underlined that the projects will include investments in cultural and athletic facilities and also more green and recreational areas.
“The government is determined to implement a plan of projects that Thessaloniki has never seen before, so that in 2030 its will truly be the city worthy of its residents, students, and investors who will come to invest,” the Greek PM said.
The ambitious plan of 30 projects will be presented in detail by Deputy Minister of Interior Responsible for Macedonia – Thrace Stavros Kalafatis next week. The plan will then be uploaded online for the public.
“The goal of the plan is twofold,” Kalafatis told the Athens News Agency (ANA).
“First, it promotes the city into the new era with a complete approach to urban and spatial planning approach. Second, it includes actions focused on western Thessaloniki, similar to the projects such as the oncology hospital, the paediatric hospital and the reconstruction of the former Pavlos Melas camp,” the deputy minister added.
