People from parishes across Melbourne attended the feast of Panagia Gorgoepikoos Monastery in Geelong last weekend, the first since the pandemic began.
In addition to people that attended in their cars with family and friends, another 20 busloads of people arrived at the monastery, which is currently in the process of being renovated.
Clergy from all over Victoria joined Panagia Gorgoepikoos’ Gerondissa and Sister Gregoria, together with Bishop Christodoulos from Sydney, and with Bishops Evmenios and Kyriakos from Melbourne.

Gerondissa and Sister Gregoria had been preparing the monastery for weeks with the help of volunteers, for the thousands of visitors that attended last week.

There were lots of stalls, amongst which was one from the parish of The Transfiguration of Our Lord, whose volunteers made loukoumades, diples, melamakarona and kourabiedes for the attendees.
The loukoumades were a hit selling out early. They needed 75 kg of flour; a record for the monastery’s feast.
