On Thursday night George Karagounis, the Euro 2004 star of Greece’s national team, arrived in Sydney for an official month long tour.

Karagounis was welcomed at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport by Nick Mouzourakis from the Football Brilliance Academy and Greek media.

The former Panathinaikos, Inter Milan and Fulham player is in Australia as part of an official tour hosted by Football Brilliance Academy and the Heartbeat of Football Foundation.

Karagounis will wear his boots again to relive his golden days in football in the ‘Karagounis Legends Game’ at Leichhardt’s Lambert Park on Sunday, October 23.

Gates open at 2pm, and Karagounis will be conducting a training session for children for the Football Brilliance Academy before the charity match kick-offs at 5pm.

In Sydney, Karagounis will also attend a charity gala dinner on Friday, October 14 at the Grand Roxy at Brighton-Le-Sands and will talk about his football experiences and the historic 2004 Euro win.

At an international level, George Karagounis made 139 appearances between 1999 and 2014, being the most capped player in the history of the Greece national team.

Karagounis’ 11 players will be playing against a mixed team of ex-football stars and current professional footballers.

Tickets for the Sunday, October 23 ‘Karagounis Legends Game’ are being sold individually for $25 or $100 for a family pack of 5. Tickets are available online via Eventbrite here.
