Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews visited the Northcote City FC (Hercules) premises to make an election promise that could significantly upgrade the club’s facilities if realised.
Joining MP Kat Theophanous for the Thursday visit, Mr Andrews announced that a re-elected Labor Government would commit $500,000 to help the club get new facilities at John Cain Memorial Park.
“This will mean new female-friendly change rooms and bathrooms, which are critical to encourage more women and girls in our suburbs to play the world game,” Ms Theophanous wrote in a Facebook post.
Thanking the Victorian Labor for their “commitment to community sport”, Northcote FC said the upgrades would allow them better service for the community and make soccer more accessible.
The club said there was record growth in their female programs for 2022 and those interested to get involved in female programs for 2023 can submit an expression of interest via this link, https://bit.ly/3VpOAXm
Originally known as Hercules, Northcote City FC was formed in 1960 by a group of newly arrived Greek migrants to Australia.
In 1980, the Club secured its move from Fairfield Park to John Cain Memorial Park, reforming itself into Northcote City Soccer Club.
