The Australian Financial Review has revealed the nation’s Young Rich Listers for 2022, featuring three Greek Australians who fit the criteria: under 40, wealthy not by inheritance and worth at least $35 million.
Adelaide-based Kayla Itsines has stayed on the list, ranked 35th with $165 million, the same net worth with ex-partner Tobi Pearce ranked 36th.
In the past decade or so, personal trainer Itsines has managed to build a fitness empire with millions of followers, launched her own training and nutrition guide and together with Pearce co-founded fitness app SWEAT that they sold last year to a US tech giant reportedly for $400 million.
The former couple had been in relationship since 2012 and have a daughter.
Pearce is an investor in EzLicence, an online platform for people to choose and compare driving schools and he reportedly bought a $5.23 million penthouse apartment in his Adelaide home town in December.
Itsines who got engaged in July to Jae Woodroffe, is currently seven months pregnant with her second child.
Meanwhile, Melbourne duo Gerry Sakkas and Aaron Pasias have made their Young Rich List debut, taking spots 73 and 74 with an estimated wealth of $56 million.
They are co-founders of video game developer PlaySide which was listed on the ASX last December.
Founded in 2012, PlaySide turned profitable in 2021-22 with revenue of $30 million and a net profit of $5 million.
At its birth, the company had been partially funded by Sakkas’ $15,000 redundancy package from now competitor, EA Games.
Playside is Australia’s sole publicly listed game developer, producing games for mobile, PC and augmented and virtual reality. They develop games in collaboration with major studios including Disney, Pixar and Warner Bros.
The wealth needed to make the Young Rich List this year fell to $35 million, from $36 million last year.
The combined wealth held by the nation’s richest young self-made entrepreneurs has dropped by $11.1 billion this year compared to last year, totalling a four-year low of $30.2 billion
Fifteen women are on the list, the same as last year and Itsines is in the top 5 of the female young rich listers.
