The Greeks have successfully made it to the quarter finals of the All Nations Cup, having qualified on top in Group 2 and undefeated in their three group stage matches.

Hellas will now face The Republic of Somalia this coming Sunday, 6 November at 2pm at Egan Lee Reserve, Knox City Football Club.

Coaches George Katsakis and Con Tangalakis can’t speak highly enough of the players and are enthused by their commitment.

“The team has developed nicely since the tournament began and are now starting to play as one cohesive unit and we look forward to seeing how far we can progress in the tournament,” said George Katsakis.

Team Manager Kon Kyranakis also expressed his thoughts leading up to the quarter final match.

“With every game the team has played, they are getting stronger and it’s important to peak at the right time of the tournament. We have a fit and hungry squad and I look forward to the clash against the Republic of Somalia.”

Echoing his team’s sentiments, Peter Skapetis, said that he can’t wait for the match to begin.

“It’s so exciting what we have achieved so far but we as players know that the difficult matches are now in front of us,” he explained, adding that “all the boys have been very positive at training and we are all competing for a spot in Sunday’s starting lineup”.

“The pride I feel when wearing the Greek jumper is immense and I feel honoured to be captain of this team,” Skapetis enthused.

Bill Papastergiadis and Michael Karamitos, President and Vice President respectively of the Greek Community, are both looking forward to the quarter final clash with the Republic of Somalia, sharing their pride for the progress of the Greek football team in the tournament.

“We at the Community are so proud of the players and what they have achieved so far and encourage as many people as possible to come and support the team on Sunday,” said Papastergiadis.

“I wish them all the best for the remainder of the tournament,”
