The union representing staff at the Civil Aviation Authority announced a “warning” strike for Monday 30 June and Tuesday 1 July, to press their demand for more state funding.

The 48-hour stoppage will not be joined by air-traffic controllers, which means that major flight disruptions are not expected as the tourism season enters its busy period.

Authorities, however, did say that travellers should brace themselves for some delays.
