Australia’s United Cup, a new mixed national team tennis tournament organised by the ATP and WTA, will kick off on 29 December for the first time across several cities.

National teams will be going toe to toe, as some of the sport’s biggest names are set to compete in the mixed warm-up event ahead of the Australian Open.

In 2023, 18 nations – comprising up to four men and four women – will face off to be crowned inaugural champions.

Countries will be split into six pools of three teams, with semi-finals and a final in Sydney to cap off the event.

Teams will play four singles matches (two men’s and two women’s) and one mixed doubles match in the round-robin stage.

Teams will be playing for a US$15 million (AU$22 million) prize pool in the lead-up event for the Australian Open.

Greece’s national team headed by Stefanos Tsitsipas, consists of Maria Sakkari, Despina Papamichail, Michalis Pervolarakis, Valentini Grammatikopoulou, Stefanos Sakellaridis, Sappho Sakellaridis, and Petros Tsitsipas.

Leading up to the event, Stefanos Tsitsipas sent a message to tennis fans on how to best support Team Greece.

“It’s great to hear that you are pumped up and ready to support Team Greece in the United Cup!,” the Instagram post read.

Fans are being encouraged to show their support by:

– Wearing their team’s colours and gear to help create a sense of unity and solidarity among fans and players.

– Cheering on their team at the matches.

– Share their support on social media using hashtags and share updates and photos of their team
