Members of the SDOE financial crimes unit intercepted nearly 10 million packets of contraband cigarettes in a container at the port of Thessaloniki, northern Greece.
The container had come from Port Said in Egypt, while its recipient was a newly established firm in Serres, northeastern Greece.
SDOE officials estimate that the cigarettes represent about 2 million euros in lost taxes.
