Alkistis Protopsalti visited Alphington Grammar school on Thursday, 23 February where she was welcomed by school Principal Dr Vivianne Nikou.

Protopsalti and her band were taken on a tour around the school premises, through classrooms, laboratories, libraries, playgrounds, and other on-site facilities.

During the tour, Dr Nikou provided information about the school’s history, programs, and activities.

Alkistis Protopsalti was later welcomed by the students of the Alphington Grammar School band where they put on a show and performing some songs for her. The students also had a Q&A session with the artist regarding her career and achievements. The famous vocalist answered with great joy and in return sang some of her songs.

“The visit was a huge success inspiring all students to maintain their connection to their heritage through music and other creative pursuits,” said Dr Nikou.

“Alkistis Protopsalti is an inspiration for the students and teachers. She has displayed great ethos throughout her career achievements. Her passion in maintaining the Greek language amongst Greeks abroad was also evident.”

GCM’s Vice President Anthie Sidiropoulos, Secretary Nikos Koukouvitakis and Principal of the GCM’s Language & Culture Schools Maria Bakalidou were among the community representatives that welcomed the singer ahead of her performance at the Antipodes Festival 2023.

“What a great artist! Alkistis Protopsalti fascinates the crowd every time she performs her songs,” Ms Sidiropoulos said.

“Her vocal versatility fascinating, her passion to share her love of language, her music, performance and song, was such an inspiration, especially for the students!”
