Property and media magnate Harry Stamoulis has sold his stake in A-League club Melbourne Victory.

Stamoulis, along with fellow shareholder Robert Belteky and a few other unknown shareholders, is in the process of selling off a 35 per cent stake in the club.

Stamoulis, who is the second largest shareholder in Victory, and Belteky the third largest, have invested in Deloitte to sell the shares for them.

Melbourne Victory is now looking to get a competitive rate for the shares and is said to be in talks with an Asian syndicate.

“The board of directors consider that this represents a unique opportunity for long term investors to acquire a holding in one of Australia’s premier football franchises,” Melbourne Victory said in a statement.

If the club chooses to avoid foreign ownership, another option could see it list the shares to the public.
