Father Matthew, the parish priest of the Panagia Kamariani church in Red Hill told Neos Kosmos that information suggesting that the church would not be operating on the night of the Resurrection is “completely unfounded”.
“All of this is unsubstantiated,” Father Matthew said, stressing that the church is functioning normally.
“We are also doing all the Holy Week services and of course we will do the Resurrection normally and we expect a large turnout of worshippers,” he said.
He added, however, that the Feast of Love service will not be held because there is a central service at St Eustatius where all the clergy will be participating.
Meanwhile, Papa Lefteris will also perform a liturgy in spite of having been defrocked by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
In a letter to Neos Kosmos Elefterios Tatsis declared his deposition illegal and has formed the Brotherhood of St. Paisios.
The former priest will perform a service at 2A Verdon Street, Dromana where many faithful who support him will gather.
The rest of the Holy Week services, including the Epitaph on Good Friday will also be held there.
