With Anzac Day marking a day of national commemoration in Australia and New Zealand, the Premier of Victoria Daniel Andrews honoured again this year, veterans with an ANZAC Day lunch.

The Australian national anthem was sung acapella by Hope Zorbas, a young Hellenic Victorian girl, who amazed the audience with her captivating voice.

“To state that this young lady has a fabulous future should she decide to become a singer, would be an understatement,” said Ange Kenos, a member of the RSL Victorian State Executive.

Oddly enough, last year another young lady of Hellenic blood sang the Australian national anthem during Anzac Day lunch, who was also “a true talent,” according to Mr. Kenos.

This coincidence seems to spark feelings of pride to those of Greek background, as ANZAC Day holds a historic significance in Australia’s and New Zealand’s national calendar.

Anzac Day is held annually on 25 April and has grown to become one of the most important national days in Australia and New Zealand, as a day of remembrance to those who have served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
