The Australian Embassy in Greece posted an announcement and images of the arrival of the Governor-General of Australia, David Hurley AC DSC, and Mrs. Linda Hurley in Athens.

In Greece, Mr. Hurley and his wife, Linda, will meet with the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and other key ministers of government and high-ranking Greek officials. They will also meet with representatives of the main opposition SYRIZA party.

Mr. and Mrs. Hurley have embarked on a historic visit to Greece and will celebrate the long-standing relationship between Australia and Greece, dating back to World War I. A relationship that was solidified with the ANZACs in World War II in Greece, especially in Crete, against the Nazi occupation.

It is a significant visit that will commemorate the ANZACs who served and fell during the Gallipoli Campaign, with a special ceremony on the island of Lemnos. Governor-General Hurley and his wife will pay their respects to the fallen soldiers, laying wreaths and attending a special service.

After their visit to Greece, Governor-General Hurley will travel to the United Kingdom to attend the coronation of King Charles.
