Cypriot MMA fighter Charalampos “The Ferocious” Grigoriou has signed on to fight for Dana White’s Contender Series, and is now one step closer to reaching the UFC.

The promotion allows up and coming fighters the chance to showcase their talent, where president Dana White can scout for the UFC brand.

Revealing the news on his social media, Grigoriou said he’s waited a long time and is honoured to represent Cyprus.

“If you don’t know, now you know. I signed with Dana White’s Contender Series and I’m fighting August 15th in Las Vegas. It was a long run and I’m finally step away from my dream. It will be an honor for me to represent my country in the biggest promotion in the world as the only Cypriot in the UFC. Get ready for another amazing knockout, nobody can take it away from me.”

“Thank you, Dana White UFC for the opportunity. Don’t blink.”

Based in the US now, but fighting out of Paphos, the 31-year-old has a 7-3-0 (Win-Loss-Draw) record, and is the current Combat FC Champion, winning the title in February.

Grigoriou’s next fight for Combat FC will be on June 16, defending his title against Kris Moutinho.

On August 15, in the Contender Series, Ferocious will fight American Cameron Smotherman.
