Nikos Oikonomopoulos, a popular Greek singer known for his devout religious beliefs, paid a visit to Archbishop of Australia, Makarios, in Sydney on Thursday, 8 June.

Oikonomopoulos, who is currently in Sydney for a series of scheduled concerts in Australia, visited the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese to pay his respects to the Archbishop and seek his blessings.

Archbishop Makarios warmly welcomed the artist and received him in his archiepiscopal office, where they discussed the life of the Greek diaspora in the fifth continent and the contribution of the Orthodox Church.

At the end of the meeting, the Archbishop expressed his wishes for the popular singer to have “fruitful communication with the Greek community” during the remainder of his stay in Australia, and a “safe return to the beloved homeland”.
