Greek duo Kadinelia will be touring Australia this October as part of Greek Fringe’s continued effort to spotlight independent artists.
The progressive duo of Evi Seitanidou and Thanasis Zikas are said to represent modern Hellenic diversity and are inventive while still using traditional elements.
Traditional sounds of Greece are combined with blues, funk, gypsy and several other world music traditions, bringing Western elements into Greek music.
Kadinelia are fond of the traditional culture, and use instruments unexpected from modern acts, the tsabouna (Cycladic bagpipe) and the Pontian lyra. But being new age, they blend electronic music to create an upbeat and psychedelic experience using sounds of yesterday.

Both play the guitar and provide vocals; Evi plays the lyra and beatboxes while Thanasis plays the tsabouna.
Releasing their debut album in late 2019, the duo is soon to begin on their second, which is expected later this year.
Touring across the east coast of Australia, Kadinelia will be playing at the following venues:
- Northcote Social Club, Melbourne October 5
- Smith’s Alternative, Canberra October 8
- Bemac, Brisbane October 13
- Red Rattler, Sydney October 14
