A successful afternoon of poetry, themed “Intersections”, marked the end of this year’s Antipodean Palette exhibition, at the Steps Gallery in Melbourne, last Sunday.
With the Greek Australian Cultural League (GACL) celebrating Philhellenes of Australia this year, most of the poets, who presented their work during this year’s poetry afternoon, were of non-Greek background. The theme, “Intersections”, was widely interpreted, ranging from the literal to the abstract and metaphorical.
The poets were surrounded by the artworks of twelve artists, including two Philhellenes. The event featured poems read by Alex Skovron, Susan Fealy, Jena Woodhouse (read by Cathy Alexopoulos), Connie Gregory, Monika Athanasiou and Ania Zamecznik. It was a great success and a fitting conclusion to this year’s Antipodean Palette exhibition.
