The 2023 Greek Film Festival has added an additional cinema to its screenings, with the Palace Balwyn Cinema.

The festival is dedicated to showcasing a diverse range of Greek films, new and old, of all genres, that capture the essence of Greek culture, history and creativity.

A significant annual event for not just the Greek community, but all film lovers, guests can expect a selection of films that will very well capture the essence of Greece and provide a glimpse into modern Greece.

The 2023 Greek Film Festival is presented by the Greek Community of Melbourne and the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW, in collaboration with the Palace Cinemas group.

Alongside the newly announced location, other theatres screening are two iconic Melbourne locations, Palace Cinema Como in South Yarra and Astor Theatre in Windsor. For the Sydney community, the festival will be coming to Palace Norton Street in Leichardt.

On October 19, the festival will open with the award-winning feature film “Behind the Haystacks”, by Asimina Proedrou.

Screen International describe the film as an “intense psychological study of murky morality,” which delves into the complexities of the 2015 refugee crisis in Greece, as seen through the eyes of three morally questionable family members.
