Olympiacos and PAOK maintained their perfect start to the season as Aris lost once again, leading to the resignation of manager Apostolos Terzis.

The Piraeus giants dominated Atromitos at Georgios Karaiskakis ground on Monday morning (AEST), beating them 4-0 in the Greek Super League’s second round for their second straight win.

Winger Giorgos Masouras put the red-whites ahead with a header from close range after a save from goalkeeper Panagiotis Tsintotas (32′), and midfielder Mady Camara similarly pounced on a save from Tsintotas to make it two (45′).

Masouras secured his second of the night shortly after half time with a tidy finish (49′) before defender Quini sealed the clash with his first goal for the club (77′).

Tsintotas was sent off for a second yellow in the dying moments (90+4′) to wrap up a terrible result for Atromitos in their opening match of the season.

PAOK managed a 2-1 victory over Kifisia at Toumba Stadium to also start their league campaign with back-to-back successes.

The Thessaloniki side got their first right before half time when striker Stefanos Tzimas met the ball first from goalkeeper Ogmundur Kristinsson’s save, knocking the ball in from close range (45+2′).

The visitors drew level, thanks to a headed finish from defender Giannis Masouras (75′), but PAOK regained the lead three minutes later following an own goal from midfielder Luka Capan in what proved to be the decisive moment of the match.

Aris’ horrid start this season continued as they fell 1-0 away to Lamia, with coach Apostolos Terzis resigning afterwards as a result.

Striker Carlitos scored the only goal of the contest in the 38th minute, placing the ball into the bottom right for his second goal in as many games.

The Fthiotida side hung on, with the only negative coming from right back David Simon’s late send-off after receiving two yellows in a four-minute period (90+4′).

AEK was held to a surprising 1-1 draw by Panserraikos at Agia Sophia ground on Sunday morning, giving their title defence a tepid start.

The reigning champions fell behind almost immediately as striker Kosta Aleksic headed in a cross from winger Kostas Pileas inside the first minute to put the visitors ahead.

Enosi striker Tom Van Weert had a chance from the spot to bring it level but goalkeeper Adrian Chovan managed to keep it out with his legs (63′).

Attacking midfielder Mijat Gacinovic eventually gave AEK their equaliser with a solid finish into the bottom left (78′), ensuring they avoided a shock defeat.

Panathinaikos opened their league account with a 3-0 triumph over Volos at “Leoforos” Stadium, giving them an important confidence boost ahead of their huge Champions League play-off with Braga.

The Greens found their first in the 11th minute through midfielder Adam Cerin, who pounced on a failed clearance of the ball in the box and guided it into the top corner with an outside-of-the-foot tap-in.

Striker Fotis Ioannidis made it two with a corner header that just got past goalkeeper Marios Siampanis after his attempted save saw the ball deflect off the left post and into the net (37′).

Winger Benjamin Verbic buried the result as he headed in an excellent cross from right back Giannis Kotsiras into the right side of the net (74′).

Asteras Tripolis bagged a 3-0 win against OFI to give them their first points of the season.

The Arcadians opened the scoring 14 minutes in through a close-range finish from winger Julian Bartolio, with striker Juan Bautista Mintello doubling it soon after with a header from a free kick that crept in off the right post (21′).

Substitute Nikolaos Kaltsas added the finishing touches on a strong outing for the hosts with a strong finish into the bottom left (90+6′).

Neither Panetolikos nor Giannina were able to find the back of the net, playing out a 0-0 draw in the round opener on Saturday morning.
