During a reception held in his honour, attendees were reminded of the impact that their votes in the upcoming Referendum can have on the lives of First Nations people and, by extension, the broader community.

“Each vote represents an opportunity to effect positive change and rectify historical injustices, contributing to healing and reconciliation,” said Pavlidis,.

Pavlidis added that Non-Indigenous Australians should embrace it as a chance to create a more inclusive and equitable society.

“The Referendum stands as a monumental event in our lifetime, one that will shape the future and leave behind a legacy of greater humanity for generations to come. Each vote cast is a step towards a more united, compassionate, and just Australia, fostering a brighter future for our children and grandchildren. Pat Farmer’s cross-country run symbolises not only a physical journey but a powerful call to action for all Australians to engage in this historic opportunity for positive change.”
