In an unexpected reversal, Stefanos and Petros Tsitsipas have triumphed with a 2-1 victory over Arneonto and Waisborn in the doubles semi-final of the European Open in Antwerp.

After trailing by two match points, they earned their ticket to their first-ever career final as a team.

Despite losing the first set 6-4, the Tsitsipas brothers managed to level the match with a tiebreak victory of 7-6 and clinched the decider set with a score of 13-11.

Top-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas having earlier competed in the singles semi-final of the Open, losing to 19-year-old Arthur Fils 7-6(5), 7-6(4) was visibly tired, nevertheless, the Greek duo managed to turn the tables and find answers to their opponents’ serves.

The latter ended the first set with a staggering 13/13 on first serves and 7/10 on second.

However, Stefanos and Petros Tsitsipas maintained their composure and, after saving a break point at 10-10 in the second set, levelling the score at 5-5.

Later, they managed a triple set point from 0-40 in the 12th game and took it to a tiebreak, where they began to set the stage for a win.

The super tiebreak turned into a thriller as the duo took an early lead at 7-4.

However, Arneonto and Waisborn fought back with four consecutive points and two mini-breaks to make it 8-7, with the chance to close out the match.

The Greeks responded in the same fashion, levelling it at 8-8 but the Monegasque and the Austrian reached match point at 9-8.

It took a heroic effort for the Tsitsipas bros to earn their first match point at 10-9, but two consecutive points from their opponents brought the score to 11-10.

In another rollercoaster move, with three consecutive final points, Stefanos and Petros Tsitsipas completed their unexpected comeback and secured their place in the grand final.

The grand final is set to take place on Sunday (11pm AEST).

There, the Tsitsipas team will face Behar and Pavlasek, who overcame Glaspool and Nis with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-5 victory on Friday.
