Sydney’s Inner West is preparing to play host once more to the Cyprus Food and Wine Festival on Sunday November 19 at the Cyprus Community club in Stanmore.
The event will be a celebration of Cypriot cuisine, filled with food, drinks, dancing, singing and traditional music, continuing a proud tradition of the Cyprus Club that has spanned over 50 years.
The festival honours the proud history of wine-making associated with the island that goes as far back as 3,500 years.
The event is a celebration as well as a showcase for local producers, with a record number of stalls organised for this year.

“We are really proud the community has come together to celebrate our heritage, we are humbled that the festival is now on the ‘must go’ list of many,” said the festival director, Andrew Paschali.
Mr Paschali labelled it a major event of the area, one that stretches beyond the Cypriot and Greek communities and has become a festivity that “brings all Australians together”.
Andrew Costa, President of the Cyprus Community of NSW, urged all to partake and celebrate the event, citing the Greek philosopher, Epicurus, famous quote: “We should look for someone to eat and drink with before looking for something to eat and drink”.
The event will hope to emulate last year’s success, which saw hundreds embrace the festival for the first time in two years due to COVID-19.
With the pandemic seemingly in the rear-view mirror, the festival will hope this year’s edition reaffirms its longstanding tradition as a regular fixture of the Cyprus community’s calendar.
