The Greek Orthodox Community of NSW will not hold elections at it was planned for Sunday November 26, and that is because exactly 20 nominations were received for the 20 positions of the Board.
The Election Committee of the GOC of NSW announced on Monday that, as Constitution dictates, all 20 applicants are considered elected for the new Board of Directors which will serve for the next two years.
The new committee is expected to meet soon to elect the Executive body. Whilst there might me movements in positions of the executives/roles, current president, Mr Harry Danalis, is expected to remain at the helm.
It should be noted that the new Board will, according to decisions from the last AGM, prioritise the convening of Extraordinary General Meetings to discuss changes in the Constitution.
These may include the duration of the term of office on the Board and potential change to the number of people on the Board, which currently stands at 20.
According to the announcement of the Election Committee, signed by its president Rena Drosou and its secretary Vasilis Tsilimos, the new board consists of the following members:
