Sydney Roosters Chairman Nick Politis was celebrated at a gala dinner on Wednesday night as he was officially inducted as a life member of the prestigious Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

The induction ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, recognised 12 sports luminaries for their outstanding contributions, with notable figures such as Graham Arnold (football), Glenn McGrath (cricket), and Steve Waugh (cricket) among the honorees.

“Tonight our Chairman joined an illustrious group of champions, after being awarded SCG Life Membership. This is the highest individual honour awarded at SCG and Allianz Stadium/SFS. Congratulations to Nick and to all those inducted,” Sydney Roosters said on their Facebook Page.

This distinguished group joins the exclusive list of 45 life members at the SCG since the early 1990s.

Expressing his gratitude, Politis stated that receiving life membership at the SCG was the pinnacle of his extraordinary career. He highlighted the special connection the Sydney Roosters have with the ground, noting the club’s long history at the SCG since its first game in 1913.

“The Roosters had their first game at the SCG in 1913. We have been playing there for a long time, and our association with the ground is special for many reasons. Personally, I’ve been around the game a long time now, both as chairman of the Roosters and previously on the NSWRL board. This has to be the highest honor I’ve ever received. To be alongside the special company of life members, that’s something else,” Polites said.
