Greek swimming sensation Anna Ntountounaki etched her name in history on Sunday by clinching the championship title in the 25-meter pool Europeans.
The 28-year-old’s remarkable performance unfolded in Otopeni, Romania, where she claimed the gold medal in the 50 meters butterfly, clocking an impressive time of 25.10 seconds.
Notably, this victory came just a day after she secured a bronze medal in the 100 meters butterfly at the same competition.
In a nail-biting finish, Ntountounaki shared the top spot on the podium with Dutch swimmer Tessa Jill, both recording identical times.
The thrilling event saw Sweden’s Sarah Juvenik securing the bronze medal with a time of 25.16 seconds.
This triumph marks Ntountounaki’s second European gold, following her previous victory in 2020 in Budapest, where she became the European champion in the 50-meter pool for the 100m butterfly event.
