This year, Betty Athanasaki’s initiative, along with her collaborators, contributed a sum of ten thousand euros to the ‘Smile of the Child’ organisation in Greece.
The funds, were raised during the philanthropic event ‘Tavern Night’, held at the Pallas Brotherhood hall in Brunswick on November 18, 2023.
Ms Athanasaki, along with those who share her deep concern for children, has been volunteering for the ‘Smile of the Child’ for many years, actively participating in the collection of substantial donations for the non-profit organisation operating in Greece, dedicated to advocating for children’s rights and addressing their everyday challenges. Athanasaki forwarded the relevant receipt issued by the ‘Smile of the Child’ indicating the specified amount, along with an accompanying letter of gratitude from the President of the Board of Directors, Kostas Giannopoulos.

“After years of unwavering participation, the least we can do is send you this brief letter to express our immense gratitude, both to you and to all those supporting your efforts, from the depths of our hearts,” Mr Giannopoulos wrote.
“Your dedication to our cause empowers us to continue providing as much stability, care, attention, and love as these children have been deprived of. Together, we will persist in offering solutions to every problem children face. We will stand by every child with health issues, every child who goes missing, every child teetering on the brink of poverty, and every child experiencing any form of violence. We will be there for all these children and others, preempting anything that could jeopardize them. We will fight until we achieve our goal… for all children to be equal and smiling, generously receiving everything they deserve. In conclusion, after 28 years of ‘The Smile of the Child,’ we affirm: it cannot happen without you,” Mr Giannopoulos stated in his letter.
