Veteran Greek-Australian journalist Giorgos Galanis passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 79.
His close friend and collaborator, Michalis Profyris, confirmed the news to Neos Kosmos.
Devastated by the loss, Profyris stated: “I was informed on Sunday morning by ‘Fronditha’ (Fairfield) that my good friend and esteemed journalist Giorgos Galanis has passed away.”

According to Profyris, Giorgos Galanis had health issues, but in the end, “his heart betrayed him.”
His wife had passed away a few months ago.
Galanis, a father of one son, hailed from Laconia. He worked for several years at Neos Kosmos and continued his journalistic career at Greek Herald alongside his unforgettable publisher and compatriot, Theodoros Skalkos.
