Greece’s coastguard on Wednesday said it had found the bodies of two asylum seekers believed to have drowned when a migrant boat sank near the island of Lesbos.
Another 57 people made it ashore on the island. One of the survivors told officials that one person from the group had fallen out of the boat and was missing.
The coastguard said the migrants had been spotted late Tuesday by a patrol boat operated by EU border agency Frontex.
The island of Lesbos is one of the gateways for migrants seeking to enter the European Union, with many dying in the perilous sea crossing.
