Alternate Minister of Interior, Theodoros Livanios, is scheduled for an official visit to Australia this March, marking his presence in Melbourne from March 21 to 23, and in Sydney from March 24 to 27.

During his visit, Livanios will engage with Australian Greek media, church, and community leaders, and will participate in Greek Independence Day celebrations.

The discussions will encompass various topics, including the digital transformation initiatives within the Greek state and economy, the proposed Diaspora vote, and other issues pertinent to Greece and its Diaspora.

Hailing from Athens, born in 1977, Livanios holds a degree from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, complemented by a master’s degree in quality management and technology.

He has been a key figure in advancing the Greek government’s digitalisation and decentralisation efforts.

With an extensive background in public service, Livanios previously held positions such as deputy minister of digital governance until May 2023, deputy minister to the prime minister from January to August 2021, and deputy minister of the interior responsible for local government and electoral issues from July 2019 to January 2021.

Before his governmental roles, Livanios contributed significantly to New Democracy’s information technology sector and led digital campaigns for various elections. Prior to his political engagements, he spent over a decade in the private sector, specialising in IT and market research.

In parallel, Greece’s prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, is set to visit Canada for Greek Independence Day celebrations, followed by a potential meeting with President Joe Biden in the United States.

The agenda will focus on economic and armament discussions, with an emphasis on maintaining autonomous Greek American relations, independent of external factors such as Turkey and its military engagements. Additionally, the Greek PM anticipates a visit to Australia later this year.
