The 11th International Kids’ Art Contest at the Museum of Cycladic Art invites children from around the world to explore the realm of ancient vases.
This year’s theme, “Today’s stories on ancient vases,” invites young artists aged 4-15 to create images of their everyday lives, imagining what they would leave as a footprint for future generations.
The contest runs until April 22, 2024, with children’s artwork being showcased in September 2024 as part of the 2nd Cycladic Kids’ Festival with the support of Eurolife FFH and RAYCAP, and is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Participants are encouraged to draw inspiration from the museum’s permanent exhibition, “Scenes from Daily Life in Antiquity,” located on the 4th floor.
In this digital age, ancient painted clay vases serve as a unique window into the past, depicting scenes from daily life and mythology.
Through this contest, children are encouraged to reflect on their own lives and choose what aspects they wish to share with the world. What scenes are most typical of their era? What stories do they want to tell?
Entries can be created using painting, collage, photography, or mixed media, following the vase outline provided in the template.
The contest results will be announced in June, just before the end of the school year.
A prestigious jury, including Nikos Aliagas, Panos Giannikopoulos, Nadia Kontogeorgi, Theodoros Papakostas, Erato Hatzisavva, and Heidi Holder, will evaluate the submissions.

Submit entries by April 22, 2024, and for a chance to exhibit artwork in September, send the original piece by post to the Museum of Cycladic Art by May 31, 2024.
