On Monday, March 11 Manasis School of Greek Dance will participate in the Moomba Festival Parade, representing the rich tapestry of the Greek-Australian diaspora.
This breaks a decades-long void of Greek representation in the festival, highlighting our school’s dedication to reviving centuries-old traditions.
Led by the Froura Hellenic Australian Honourary Guard, the school’s dancers will showcase the vibrant spirit of Greek culture adorned in traditional costumes and performing iconic dances like the Zorba, while celebrating unity and cultural diversity with flag-bearers, flanked by the masks and bell-wearers, Koudounoforoi and the traditional free-flowing street dance, Berati.

March holds special significance for the Greek-Australian community, bridging two important cultural and religious observances, the conclusion of the Apokries Carnival season and the commencement of Great Lent, as well as the Commemoration of Greek National Day on March 25, 1821.
