On Sunday April 28, SEKA Victoria and the Cyprus Community of Melbourne and Victoria held a documentary screening attended by more than 200 guests.
The documentary shown was Journey into Cyprus – East to West, created by two friends who in 2018, walked the length of Cyprus together promoting a future where the island is at peace, unified and free.
Turkish Cypriot Yalçın Adal and Greek Cypriot Stavros Tziortzis walked together for 16 days from Cape Apostolos Andreas to Paphos and recorded their journey.

The two were in attendance for the screening and talked about their experiences.
Scenes of the route, the colours of nature, the beauties of the villages, but also the reception scenes from both communities, wakened memories in the audience of the ‘good old times’, when the two communities lived harmoniously.

“It was a touching tribute to the shared history of these two communities, and the power of hope in the work towards a resolution,” Kat Theophanous MP said on an Instagram post.
Adal and Tziortzis, with their parents in attendance, were also given a plaque by SEKA and the Community for their contributions to the cause of Cyprus reunification.
“After all, that’s what it is… the message the two display through the documentary: Co-existence and Peace,” a media release sent to Neos Kosmos read.
“Warm congratulations to Stavros and Yalcin for the initiative. We hope that their hopeful and inspiring message will touch the hearts and expectations of all of us for a free Cyprus.”
