State League 1 – North West League
The Western Suburbs absolutely crushed Yarraville in their derby match. The away team dominated the field with so much gusto that they savored a sweet 1-2 victory at the Doxa stadium. Next up, they’ll defend their turf against Geelong, while Yarraville will have to face the fierce local United squad at Whittlesea.
Clifton Hill rocked their road trip and destroyed Geelong 0-2. Get ready to see history repeat itself as they host the Brimbank Stallions and give them a lesson in defeat this weekend.
State League 1 – Southeast League
Aris, the unstoppable from South Springvale, is on a winning streak towards the top of the standings. The “yellow and black” squad showed their true stripes yet again as they triumphed over opponents Old Scotch with a 0-2 defeat. This week, they’ll battle for supremacy against the second-place team, Springvale White Eagles, in a thrilling local derby that is sure to bring out passionate supporters from both sides.
Malvern City learned the hard way that trying to beat the Eltham Redbacks in their own backyard is like trying to catch a fish using a fork – not a clever move. The Greek Australian squad fell behind 2-0 at halftime and despite a valiant effort in the second half, they could only muster up one goal, sealing their fate at 2-1. This week, they’ll hopefully have better luck hosting the fifth-ranked Mazenod – fingers crossed they don’t get served another Greek tragedy.
State League 2 – North West League
Over the Easter weekend, Mill Park proved they were no small fry as they demolished Geelong Rangers with a convincing 2-0 score. Now sitting in sixth place, they are just a few points shy of the top spot. Can they keep the winning streak alive on the road against Hume United next week? Fingers crossed!
Westvale Olympic couldn’t quite keep up with the competition in their last game. The Greek-Australian team took a trip to Whittlesea, but unfortunately they couldn’t outrun the local Rangers who secured a 3-1 victory. Next up, Westvale will face the “kangaroos” of Lalor United in an away game. Let’s hope they’ve packed their winning boots this time.
PAOK endured yet another loss last weekend. The “black and white” squad hosted Albion Rovers, but it was a no-go for them. The visitors put on quite the show and left Altona East with a 1-2 victory, sealing the deal. This week, the team will hit the road for a dual showdown against the Uni Hill Eagles. Hopefully they’ll soar to new heights and avoid any feather-ruffling on the way.
State League 2 – Southeast League
The Bayside Argonauts flexed their muscle and cruised to a 4-1 victory over Knox City. Now, the Greek Australian squad looks to continue their winning streak at their own turf as they face off against the sixth-placed Mooroolbark.
Last weekend, Chisholm United kept riding their wave of success. The “Blues,” who threw a swanky shindig to show off their revamped style last week, clinched a 1-2 win against Mooroolbark. And this weekend, they’re rolling out the red carpet for Greater Dandenong. Talk about a winning streak!
From slithering at the bottom to striking at the top, Bentleigh United has finally sunk their fangs into victory. The Cobras hissed and slithered their way past Doncaster Rovers in a thrilling match, putting on a venomous display in the final third. Their bite was too much for their opponents, as they marked their territory with a 2-1 score. Next, the yellow and black predators will slink their way to North Caulfield, ready to strike against the local team.
State League 4 – Northern League
Darebin United showed off their impressive skills in their last game, securing a sweet win on their home turf. The valiant Apollon put Moonee Valley Knights in their place with a 1-0 victory, making them a solid contender in third place and only four tiny points away from the top spot. Melbourne University better come prepared, because it’s going to be a showdown on Darebin’s field this week.
Looks like West Preston was living in a different time zone in their match against Plenty Valley. As the “Greens” were turning greener with rage, they fell short with a score of 1-2. Can’t wait to see if the Greek-Australian team will rock the road or they’ll be docked by Docklands Athletic this weekend.
State League 4 – Eastern Group
The Waverley Wanderers couldn’t quite keep up with the Monbulk Rangers, despite having twice the brain power. It was a tough 2-1 loss at home. But fear not, for this week they shall take on Boronia away, in hopes of achieving an ‘AEKcellent’ victory.
State League 5 – Eastern Group
East Kew’s dominance shone bright as Olympiacos effortlessly trampled Whitehorse United 4-1. Watch as the “red and whites” aim to stretch their undefeated glory this weekend against Old Ivanhoe.
State League 5 – Northern League
Looks like AEK from Keon Park couldn’t conquer their home turf against the Heidelberg Stars. Their 2-0 defeat? Definitely not the star performance they were hoping for. But fear not, this week they’ll be out for revenge against Melbourne University.
