A new study by Remitly, found Greece to be the world’s second friendliest nation. The global research utilised The Big 5 Personality Test to assess the ‘agreeableness’ trait among people. This recognition is pivotal as international migration increases and tourism rebounds to pre-pandemic levels.

The study, which assessed individuals from various countries on their levels of agreeableness, revealed that South Africa tops the list of friendliest nations, with Greece and Croatia following closely.

Greece’s impressive friendliness score of 33.71 out of 40 secures its position as the second friendliest country in the world but also establishes Hellas as the friendliest nation in all of Europe, a distinction that should make us all proud.This accolade holds immense significance for Greece, a country that welcomed 35 million tourists last year. The high friendliness score is a testament to the warmth and hospitality that visitors can anticipate upon their arrival in Greece. Travelling to Greece is a positive and enriching experience for tourism, work, or relocation.Mexico emerged as the highest-ranked North American country, coming in fourth place.

In contrast, global superpowers such as the United States and the United Kingdom ranked lower on the list, placing 15th and 18th, respectively. These findings highlight that smaller nations and those less typically associated with global influence can lead the way in fostering friendly and welcoming environments.
