The Greek Community of Melbourne schools will undertake their holiday program promising to take young students onto a journey into traditional Greek fairy tales through their program, ‘Red Thread Tied’.
Designed for children aged 5 to 10, regardless of their proficiency in the Greek language, the program features folk tales the likes of ‘The Sweetest Bread’ and ‘Lady Good and the Twelve Months’.
The program’s activities include learning about the seasons, discussing emotions, traditional dancing, crafting, cooking, and understanding the bread-making process from the field to the table, all conducted primarily in Greek.
The interactive format aims that children not only hear the tales but also experience the rich traditions of Greek folklore and culture in general through hands-on activities.
Each day of the program focuses on a different fairy tale and features different activities, allowing children the flexibility to attend two or even all three days for a more comprehensive experience, according to a release by the GCM.
The program will take place on Monday, July 8, at Huntingdale Hall, Wednesday, July 10, at the Greek Centre, and Thursday, July 11, at BelleVue P.S, Balwyn North.
