The Australian Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (A.H.E.P.A.) NSW and its “Kafeneion” committee are commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 2004 Athens Olympics and Paralympic Games.
The free event will be coordinated in Greek and English by the Athens 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games volunteer Dimitrios Kametopoulos.
During the programme there will be talks by other Greek-Australian volunteers wearing their Olympic outfit, an exhibition of Olympic and Paralympic products, books, and other exhibits and at the end, excerpts of the opening ceremony on the August 13 2004 will be projected on the big screen in the venue.
Those in attendance will look back on an occasion where “Greece was shining across the world and was welcoming all the world’s athletes back at the birthplace of the Olympic Games and the Hellenic civilisation, the foundations of western civilisation,” an announcement read.
