The Hellenic Olympic Committee has announced that by the decision of Mission Chief Petros Synadinos, Emmanouil Karalis and Evangelia Platanioti have been chosen as the flag bearers for Greece during the Closing Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Emmanouil Karalis earned a bronze medal in the men’s pole vault final, while Evangelia Platanioti, in her fourth Olympic appearance, secured a 6th place finish in the artistic swimming duet alongside Sofia Malkogeorgou.

For Australia, the honour of flag bearer has been awarded to two athletes who made history in Paris: Matt Wearn, who became the first sailor to successfully defend his Olympic title in the men’s dinghy event, and Kaylee McKeown, now the first Australian to win four individual Olympic gold medals after defending her titles in the 100m and 200m backstroke.

The Closing Ceremony will take place at Stade de France and will be broadcasted live on Sunday at 10pm for Greece time and for Australia at 5am AEST on Monday.
