ABC‘s Mario Christodoulou won Outstanding Podcast alongside Paul Farrell, Benjamin Sveen, Leila Shunnar and Ingrid Wagner for ‘Stop and Search – Background Briefing’.
The investigative reporter has over nine years of experience working with some of Australia’s most recognised media outlets, including the ABC’s Four Corners and Background Briefing programs, as well as The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.
He has received multiple awards and recognitions for his work, including a Gold Walkley in 2014, as part of the team which exposed wrong doing at the Commonwealth Bank.
AAP photographer Mick Tsikas won Outstanding News Photography for ‘Tears for Albo’.

He has had a three decade plus career as a photojournalist having worked for the likes of Sydney Morning Herald, Daily Telegraph, Reuters and AAP.
In a 2018 interview with Neos Kosmos he said he was “put on earth, to show the public the truth”.
The Kennedy Foundations Annual Gala Awards held in the ballroom of the Royal Randwick was attended by over 400 media and luminaries.
This year saw 1,014 entries, which beat last year’s record, across all 38 categories.
“It was a fabulous night celebrating great Australian journalism at the very time the business of it is struggling,” Kennedy Foundation Chair Carl Dumbrell said in a media release.
“Everyone had a great evening be they contenders, sponsors or media heavyweights and demonstrated that not only is the Kennedy Foundation going from strength to strength but that excellent journalism is still well and truly alive.”
