The La Trobe University’s Greek Studies Program, National Union of Greek Australian Students (NUGAS) and the Panarcadian Association of Melbourne & Victoria ‘O Kolokotronis’ have organised an event reflecting on 50 years since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.
The free event is in collaboration with the Cypriot Community of Melbourne & Victoria and SEKA Victoria.
Peter Yiannoudes OAM will be looking back at the tireless lobbying and contributions of Greek and Cypriot communities and organisations after the invasion in 1974.
Archival footage of the invasion and the various local rallies and events will also be screened as part of the talk.
The talk, which will be presented in Greek will take place at The Panarcadian Association in North Melbourne, 570 Victoria St on Sunday August 28, 2.30pm.
