In a celebration of the Olympic spirit and its values, GCM Schools of the Hellenic Community of Melbourne (HCM) will mark the end of the school year with an inaugural student Olympiad.

On the morning of November 23, around 800 students, along with their teachers, will gather at the Heidelberg United Football Club ‘Alexandros’ stadium to partake in a day of sports, and Greek culture, joined by their parents.

“This ambitious project has generated great excitement among us, and we’ve been working diligently for months to bring it to fruition,” said Maria Bakalidou, head of GCM Schools.

“This is a landmark event for Greek schools in our city, bringing together students, parents, and teachers from nine campuses and filling an entire stadium with spectators.”

The educator thanked the management of Heidelberg United Football Club ‘Alexandros’ for their support and for the venue.

“We eagerly anticipate this celebration, which will bring the Olympian values and Greek culture to the heart of Melbourne.”

As 2024 is an Olympic year, GCM Schools are seizing the opportunity to host this first-ever joint event, showcasing the rich heritage of the Olympic Games and the universal values they embody.
