So if you need another incentive to engage in more frequent sex, you now have one more reason to add to your list.
A recent British study led by Dr Nick Drydakis, Reader in Economics at Anglia Ruskin University, has revealed a correlation between those who have more sex and higher wage earners.
According to the findings derived from data collected from 7,500 Greek nationals, employees who have sex two to three times a week take home 4.5 per cent more money than their fellow colleagues having less fun in the bedroom.
Dr Drydakis explained that a number of psychological theories suggest a clear link between a successful personal and home life, with success at work.
“Maslow’s Need Hierarchy Theory claims that the happier and more fulfilled individuals are in their lives, the more productive and successful they will be in their work, translating to higher wages,” he said.
“The theory concludes that people need to love and be loved, sexually and non-sexually, by others. In the absence of these elements, people may become susceptible to loneliness, social anxiety and depression – all factors that can affect their working life.”
However, a question the study was unable to answer was: is it the frequent sex that leads to an improvement in the individual’s performance at work, which leads to a pay rise? Or do those that earn more money tend to have more sex?
Perhaps the only way to find out is to conduct your own experiment at home.
