Central Coast Mariners have re-signed Young Matilda Peta Trimis on a two-year deal, keeping the 18-year-old at the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Trimis arrived at the Mariners at the beginning of last season after finishing third in the NSW NPL Player of the Year voting.

The forward was initially signed on a scholarship deal and made her debut as a 17-year-old against Newcastle in round one and received her first start the following week in a win against Adelaide.

She earned a contract upgrade to a full A-League deal in late January and ended the season with 21 appearances for three goals.

Her standout debut season was rewarded with the Mariners Liberty A-League Newcomer of the Year award.

In national competition, she has instrumental in the 2023 U20 Asian Cup, scoring three goals and got one assist across the tournament, helping the Young Matilda’s qualify for the U20 FIFA World Cup in Colombia.

The PFA Young Women’s Footballer of the Year nominee is excited for the season ahead and pleased to continue in the Yellow and Navy.

“I am really excited to extend my contract with the Mariners. Joining the club last season for my first year in the league, I felt right at home straight away, and I had an amazing time with the team,” Trimis said in a club announcement.

“We had a really strong season, making it to the semi-finals, and I know that the girls are eager to go even further this year.

“Working with Emily (coach) and the coaching staff, I learnt so much, and I feel that the Mariners is the perfect place for me to continue to grow as a footballer.

“After the U20’s World Cup in Colombia, I can’t wait get back to the Coast, meet up with the group again and get to work ahead of a massive season.”
