A SOLID VICTORY FOR ANDROULAKIS
“Today, there are no winners or losers. The winner is PASOK. From tomorrow, we will all move forward together, united, and take our Movement even higher—where it belongs in history and in its contributions.” – Androulakis
In his victory speech, delivered at Harilaou Trikoupi headquarters after the official announcement of the PASOK-KINAL internal election results, newly elected PASOK-KINAL President Nikos Androulakis emphasised the unity of the party.
Cheered on by dozens of party officials and members, Androulakis expressed his optimism, saying, “The difficult times are behind us. The best is yet to come!”
The PASOK president stressed that “we will move forward together without populism, with a serious and credible program, with dynamism, and above all, with political integrity. For me, politics doesn’t begin where ethics end, but they are synonymous.”
Androulakis further expressed confidence that PASOK and the democratic faction can defeat New Democracy.
“PASOK has a duty to once again offer hope and a vision for the future to the Greek people, especially now that false promises have crumbled, opportunistic flags have faded, and the eyes of more and more Greeks are turning back to our party.”
He spoke of the significant changes society needs and added, “Citizens look to us to overcome the current political deadlock.”
Androulakis pledged to do everything in his power to meet these expectations and “to end the dominance of New Democracy, to put an end to favoritism, lack of transparency, and corruption. PASOK will move forward with credibility, unity, seriousness, and proposals that will improve the lives of Greeks.”
He thanked his fellow candidates, Haris Doukas, Pavlos Geroulanos, Anna Diamantopoulou, Michalis Katrinis, and Nadia Giannakopoulou, stating, “Their conduct showed that PASOK has quality leadership and political maturity. I am confident they will all be at the forefront of the fight in the coming years.”
He concluded by highlighting PASOK’s mission: “Together, we can revitalise the National Health System, strengthen public education, protect income and labour rights, secure affordable and dignified housing, and make our economy more productive and competitive. Our country needs major changes, and for that to happen, we have a duty to win the next national elections against New Democracy. I will put all my strength into this fight, and we will succeed.”
“I will continue fighting for our principles and values, for a strong, open PASOK that can govern” – Doukas
Haris Doukas thanked PASOK members and supporters who backed his candidacy and congratulated Nikos Androulakis on his victory, stating, “We are moving forward together.”
Doukas remarked, “In 3.5 months, we managed to run a clean and honest campaign without compromises in the face of extreme attacks, creating a strong political movement. I will continue fighting for our principles and values: democracy, justice, participation, transparency, and accountability. With unity and participation, we can build a strong, open PASOK that can govern. I will always be here, on the front lines.”
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis called PASOK-KINAL President Nikos Androulakis to congratulate him on his re-election, expressing his desire to meet with Androulakis soon.
